Overview
My Compass is the tab you land on when you sign in. It pulls together the information most relevant to your day — a live dashboard snapshot, recent report activity, available services, and updates from the Compass team — all in one scrollable view. The right-hand panel runs alongside every tab in the platform, giving you quick access to tasks, requests, and support without leaving your current context.
The homepage is organized into distinct sections, each serving a specific purpose. Understanding what lives where helps you get to the right information faster.
Your most recently active dashboards displayed as live, interactive previews. Browse across multiple dashboards, dig into individual charts, and download data without leaving the homepage.
A running list of recent reports showing the name, owner, type (Dashboard or Request), and the last-updated timestamp.
A carousel of curated Marketplace offerings relevant to your role. Browse or request new analytics services directly from this section.
Curated content from the Compass team — expect finance insights, platform updates, and thought leadership pieces relevant to your work.
Business Spotlight
The Business Spotlight section occupies the top of the My Compass homepage. Your most recently active dashboards appear here as tabs — each one rendering live, interactive charts and KPIs you can engage with directly. You can click into individual charts, download data, and switch between dashboards without navigating away from the homepage.
To open a dashboard in full, select All Dashboards in the top right of the section. The Spotlight reflects your own recent activity, so it stays relevant as your work evolves over time.

Report Updates
Below the Business Spotlight, the Report Updates section lists recent reporting activity across your organization. Each row shows the report name, who owns it, whether it's a Dashboard or a Request, and how recently it was updated. This gives you an at-a-glance view of what's changed since your last session.
Clicking a report name takes you directly to that dashboard or request detail. The list refreshes automatically — there's no manual refresh required.

Services for You
The Services for You carousel surfaces Marketplace offerings curated for your role and usage patterns. Each card describes a specialized analytics service — such as a custom reporting package or a sector-specific dashboard. Browse what's available here, or head to the Marketplace tab to explore the full catalog.
Use the carousel dots or arrow controls to browse available services. The full Marketplace catalog is accessible from the Marketplace tab in the top navigation.

What's New at Compass
The What's New at Compass section sits at the bottom of the main content area. It surfaces content from the Compass team — a mix of finance insights, best practices, and platform updates. Topics span areas like profitability analysis, business strategy, and data interpretation, so there's usually something relevant regardless of your focus area.
This section updates as new content is published. It's a useful habit to scan periodically, particularly when new platform capabilities roll out.
The Right-Hand Panel
The collapsible panel on the right side of the screen is persistent — it stays visible across every tab in Compass, not just My Compass. It gives you access to tasks, requests, resources, and support from anywhere in the platform without interrupting your current work.
Use the collapse arrow at the top of the panel to hide it and reclaim screen space. Click again to restore.
Taking the Guided Product Tour
Compass includes a built-in product tour that walks you through the main features of each tab. The tour launches as an overlay with step-by-step tooltips — each stop explains the relevant feature and lets you advance at your own pace. You can skip the tour at any time or revisit individual stops later.
To start the tour, click the ? icon in the top navigation bar. The tour covers My Compass, Smith, Dashboards, Tasks, Requests, and Lakehouse — giving you a full orientation without requiring you to explore each area on your own.

Use the Tasks panel to create, assign, and track reporting work — accessible from the right-hand panel on any tab.

Tip: The Business Spotlight and Report Updates sections reflect your team's most recent activity — if you're not seeing the dashboard you expect in Spotlight, check with your administrator about which dashboard has been set as the default for your role.
