In This Article: How to find, organize, and act on your dashboards from the Dashboards landing page — including using filters and card options — plus how to annotate charts and export your work for sharing with others.
The Dashboards Landing Page
The Dashboards tab is your starting point for every dashboard in your organization. All dashboards you've created or that have been shared with you appear here as cards, each showing a live thumbnail preview, the last-updated date, and the owner's name.
Two top-level tabs control what's displayed: ALL shows every dashboard visible to you, while FAVORITES narrows the view to dashboards you've marked. The upper-right corner holds the + Add Dashboard button when you're ready to create a new one.
Filters can be combined with the ALL / FAVORITES tab toggle. Use the Search and Filter icons (upper right of the landing page) for additional sorting options.
The landing page also supports two layout modes — switch between grid and list view using the icons in the upper right, immediately right of the Filter icon. Grid view shows thumbnail previews; list view is better for scanning large libraries by name and date.
Dashboard Card Options
Every dashboard card on the landing page has a three-dot menu (⋮) in its upper-right corner. This is your primary control point for managing an individual dashboard without having to open it first.
The three-dot menu provides quick actions for that specific dashboard. Options may vary based on your role and whether you own the dashboard or it has been shared with you. If you're looking for a confirmed list of available actions in your environment, open the menu on any card — the options display inline without opening the dashboard itself.
From inside an open dashboard, the canvas toolbar (Dark/Light toggle, Preview, Download, Make a Copy, Save) handles save-state and export actions. These toolbar controls apply to the full dashboard canvas rather than to individual charts.
Annotating Charts
Compass includes a built-in annotation tool that lets you mark up any individual chart before downloading or sharing it. To open it, click the three-dot menu on any chart tile within an open dashboard and select Annotate. The chart opens in a full-screen modal.
Annotations exist only within the Annotate modal session — they are not saved back to the dashboard itself. Once you close the modal, the original chart is unchanged. This makes annotation a lightweight output tool rather than a permanent edit.
Downloading and Exporting
Compass offers two distinct download paths depending on what you need to share: the full dashboard or a single annotated chart.
For sharing within a presentation or report, the Copy to Clipboard option in the Annotate modal is often the fastest path — it places the annotated image directly on your clipboard for pasting into a slide or document without saving a file first.
Sharing Dashboards
Dashboards can be shared with other Compass users in your organization. When a dashboard is shared, it appears under the recipient's Shared with Me filter on the Dashboards landing page. The owner retains control of the dashboard and any subsequent saves are reflected for everyone who has access to it.
Dashboards shared with you are view-only by default — you can explore the data, filter charts, and annotate for your own outputs, but changes to the canvas are not saved unless you use Make a Copy from the toolbar to create your own editable version.
Making a copy creates an independent dashboard under your ownership. Updates to the original are not carried through to your copy, and changes you make do not affect the source. This is the recommended approach when you want to adapt a shared template for your own reporting needs.
Setting a Dashboard as Business Spotlight
The Business Spotlight widget on your My Compass homepage displays one active dashboard at a glance — live charts, KPI cards, and all. This is the dashboard you want front-and-center every time you log in.
To set a dashboard as your Business Spotlight, open it from the Dashboards landing page and look for the spotlight or pin option in the dashboard controls. The selected dashboard will then display in the Business Spotlight section of your My Compass homepage for quick daily reference.
Annotations downloaded from the Annotate modal reflect the chart as rendered at the time — if the underlying data refreshes, re-open the modal to capture the latest view before downloading again.
